Kyetume FC and Kataka FC kept their ambitions of getting promoted to next season’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League alive with wins away on Sunday.
Kataka dug deep to edge Ndejje University at the Arena of Visions while Kyetume FC on the other hand routed relegated Nyamityobora at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara.
Hassan Wadenga and Swamadu Okur scored a goal each to guide Kataka to a 2-0 win and thus move top of the table on goal difference.
Both Kataka and Blacks Power have 35 points but Kataka have scored 33 goals, one better than the latter.
Kataka’s final two games will come at home against fellow contenders Kyetume FC and Blacks Power FC.
Kyetume literally broke no sweat in dispatching Nyamityobora winning the game 6-0. Leading goal scorer Ezra Kizito Kaye orchestrated the damage, scoring 4 goals in the game to take his tally this season to 15.
The other two goals for the Slaughters were scored by Sharif Ssaka.
Kyetume is third on the log on 34 points, one behind the leaders Kataka who they face on Thursday at Mbale Municipal Stadium.
Blacks Powers needed a late equalizer from defender Fred Okot to earn a point off relegation fighting Proline at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
Kevin Obua and Brian Umony scored for Proline in the first half while Michael Siwu had pulled one back for the visitors.
Vialli Bainomugisha’s charges will need to secure positive results in their final two games that includes visiting Kataka on the final day to realize their dream on earning promotion.
Elswehere, Kitara moved out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win at relegated MYDA FC in Tororo. Charles Kyomuhendo, Edison Agondeze and Clinton Kamugisha scored a goal each to guide Kitara to victory.
The win moved them from the red zone to 6th position on 24 points with their next fixture coming on Thursday at home against Calvary FC.
Calvary themselves boosted their survival chances with a 2-0 win over fellow relegation candidates Luweero United FC.
Dicken Kilama and Michael Khedi scored a goal apiece to help the team move to 5th place on 26 points.
