Ebenezer Tanda FC walloped helpless KB Lions 14-1 on Sunday to emerge winners of this year’s 4th Division League in Wakiso district.
Their championship will however remain in suspense until the league organizers finalize the investigations into alleged match fixing. Wakiso DFA Secretary Haruna Kyobe said in a statement, “Ebenezer Tanda’s controversial win is already under investigations following the manner in which proceedings at Kajjansi [playground] unfolded before, during and after the match”.
Kyobe added, “All concerned parties in the KB Lions Vs Ebenezer Tanda match have been summoned for questioning tomorrow [Tuesday] at Fufa House at 10:00am before a final verdict is passed. The league champion will be declared after the committee’s fact finding meetings have taken place”.
In another league game, Kira FC that needed an outright win against Gayaza to lift this year’s title couldn’t perform beyond a goalless draw, a result that left both players and officials speechless. If proved innocent, Ebenezer Tanda FC will therefore emerge league champions on a superior goal difference.
Another game involving Wakiso Youth Stars and Nsangi Youth FC failed to kick off following a misunderstanding over players’ licenses. The committee will later pronounce itself on the same. FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa will preside over the official crowning of the league champion on May 17 at Kajjansi play ground starting 4:00pm.
