Team Uganda (Kawempe Muslim Secondary School) have qualified for the semi final stage in the girls category at the on-going CAF Schools Football Championship in Zanzibar.
After picking a draw against South Africa in their first game on Tuesday, Team Uganda was ruthless on Wednesday, securing two wins against Togo and The Gambia to top Group B.
The identical 2-0 wins registered against each of the two aforementioned teams and the goalless draw against ensured Uganda topped the Group with 7 points, while South African finished second with 5 points.
In the first game today, Shadia Nabirye and Cynthia Kirenga scored a goal each against Togo.
Nabirye was once again on the scoreboard alongside Berinda Hope Nabawanuka in the game against The Gambia.
The Girls will now face Morocco at the semi final stage on Thursday.
Ayub Kiyingi Khalifa, head coach of Uganda was happy for his team picking maximum points from the two games.
”I am happy that we have progressed to the semifinals. We just need technical motivation of the girls mostly infornt as we head to the knock out stage,” he said.
Shadia Nabirye the team captain praised her side for being clinical in every game and promised to score more goals.
The Champions will recieve a cash prize of USD 300 000 prize money, runners-up each receiving USD 200 000, and the third placed team USD 150 000, courtesy of CAF’s partnership with the Motsepe Foundation.
