Government has given UGX 360M to support the two National sides-Cranes and Cubs
FUFA boss Eng Moses Magogo has heaped praise on President of the Republic of Uganda General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the government for their timely support towards the two National teams-Cranes and Cubs.
Magogo’s statement was made during the FUFA weekly press conference in Mengo.
‘I thank His Excellence President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his government for the financial support of 360 million shillings given towards FUFA to support the two national teams’ said a jovial Magogo.
‘We had a big budget but we are happy with the support from government. Since taking over as FUFA President, we have managed to get 740 million shillings from government’ added the FUFA President.
He also thanked the various government officials including the Rt Hon Prime Minister of Uganda Amama Mbabazi and Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura for the support they have continuously received from the Uganda Police Force.
Ways how FUFA generates revenue
The President also took time to outline the five ways that help to improve the federation’s revenues. He mentioned the government, sponsorships with the corporate world, FIFA resources for development, gate collections where a lot of work is needed to improve on this area, merchandising of the replica jerseys which has already raked in UGX 10M from zero shillings.
On National teams-Cranes and Cubs
Magogo said the Federation has done what is needed to prepare the two national teams.
‘Football can be a cruel sport. No result can’t be overturned. We call upon all football lovers to support the two teams’ said Magogo
He added that ‘The project of Under 17 is much bigger than the qualification past Rwanda. The FUFA Competitions committee has been instructed to come up with a schedule for the U- 17 league. Continuous development is key for these youngsters. We encourage our fans to come and watch the young players who play great football’.
Magogo emphasized that the Under 17 is a team to watch as they proved to the doubters when they hammered Rwanda 4-0 at Namboole stadium.
He also revealed that there are standardized rates for the players’ allowances but there is room for revision. The President also thanked the federation’s official travel agency Satguru who have been able to take Uganda Cranes players to their final destinations when summoned for national team duty even at short notice.
