Teso Province brightened their hopes of reaching the semifinals of this year’s FUFA Drum tournament after overcoming Tooro on Sunday.

Action between Teso and Tooro

Skipper Ben Ocen and Musa Esenu scored a goal each to guide the home side to victory.

The visitors got their consolation towards the end of the game through captain Timothy Musinguzi to keep their homes alive ahead of the return leg.

The opening half was lively but either side couldn’t get the breakthrough.

It was Ocen who fired Teso into the lead two minutes after recess when he curled home with his right foot.

With the game destined for the end, Musinguzi levelled matters in the 86th minute when the goalkeeper fumbled with the ball and spilled it towards the defender.

However, before Tooro could celebrate their goal enough, the hosts restored parity a minute later with Esenu scoring off an acrobatic kick to send the home fans into wild celebrations.

Musa Esenu was named player of the match.

The two teams will face in a fortnight’s time from now to determine who advances to the semifinals.
