The FUFA Drum: West Nile complete double over Karamoja to storm last eight

West Nile Province secured a slot into the quarterfinals of this year’s FUFA Drum with relative ease after eliminating Karamoja.

Having won the first leg 5-0 at Greenlight Stadium in Arua, West Nile once again proved their might, defeating Karamoja 1-0 in the return leg thus advancing 6-0 on aggregate.

In the game played on Sunday at Naitakwae Sports Complex, Moroto, striker Ibrahim Dada netted the solitary goal.

The goal came in the 70th minute thus guiding West Nile to victory.

On the same day, inaugural winners Buganda edged past Kigezi in a closely contested affair.

In the game played at Nakisunga Playground, Buganda under the stewardship of David Mutono won 2-1.

Viane Ssekajugo opened the scores for Buganda as early as the 12th minute before Dickson Nuwamanya found the equalizer midway through the first stanza.

However, Buganda restored parity through lanky midfielder Joshua Lubwama who scored at the hour mark.

Therefore, West Nile and Buganda join Acholi and Kampala who had won their respective games on Saturday.
