Preparations for Uganda Cranes’ return leg of the Total Championship of African Nations tournament are progressing positively.
The development was confirmed during a press conference held on Thursday at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
FUFA delegate and Executive Committee member Rogers Byamukama, Bobkins Kibirige, Managing Director of Kibo Media, the event company responsible for organizing the match, the national team head coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic and the FUFA Communications manager, Ahmed Hussein attended the press conference.
Byamukama lauded the supportive role of the media in promoting all the FUFA activities and football projects in Uganda.
It is upon this background that he politely asked the media to rally all the fans come in big numbers and support the national team.
“We thank the media for the good work they are doing. As FUFA, we ask you to continue with this noble cause. Call upon all the fans to turn up and cheer the national team in the return leg” Byamukama stated.
Kibirige in his address assured the public about the efficient access control procedure before, during and after the match.
He hinted on the stringent security measures to ensure safety at all times with the help of the police and a private security group, Hash.
“Security is well in place for all the fans, players and guests. The road from Shoprite to Naguru road will be blocked to ensure order. The tickets shall be sold near the access routes to the main stadium. All the gates to the stadium will be open at noon. All the media will be accredited” Kibirige said.
Head coach Sredojevic sounded optimistic and ready for the task at hand.
“We have done the home work right technically and tactically. All the players are physically fit, mentally stable to play in the return leg. We are polishing on the conversion rate so that we score as many goals as possible” Micho remarked.
Meanwhile, the Uganda Cranes team will train on Thursday and Friday, the two remaining sessions ahead of the return leg that will be handled by referees from Tanzania.
The South Sudan team arrives on Thursday evening.
