Uganda Cranes has whipped visiting Sao Tome and Principe 3-1 during an international build up match at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Saturday.

Left winger Joseph Ochaya opened the scoring with a 20th minute goal after a great assist by Nico Wakiro Wadada on the right flank.

Defender Murushid Jjuuko headed home the second goal on the stroke of half time after a curling corner kick from Ochaya.

Second half substitute Abraham Ndugwa scored Uganda Cranes third goal on the day on 82 minutes.

Ndugwa had come on for William Luwagga Kizito after 57 minutes.

The visitors pulled a goal in the dying minutes from Jose Varelea following a good counter attack.

Head coach Sebastien Desabre and the rest of his technical team made a couple of changes in the second half.

Sentamu replaced Emmanuel Okwi, Ndugwa came on for Luwagga Kizito, Tadeo Lwanga was Baba Kizito’s replacement and Alex Kakuba replaced Godfrey Walusimbi.

Meanwhile, Fahad Bayo took Milton Karisa’s place and Timothy Awany took over debutant Bevis Mugabi’s center back slot.

Mugabi, Bayo and Ndugwa earned their first caps with the Uganda Cranes.

Uganda Cranes will play in the second international build up this Tuesday against Malawi at Namboole.

The game against Malawi will kick off at 4 pm.
