Zambia vs Uganda, 7pm
Wednesday 5th March, 2014
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations(FUFA) are taking the international friendly with Zambia on Wednesday with keen interest as head coach Milutin Sredojevich will have a strong team to select from. Already 17 players are in Zambia for the game.
Emma Okwi and Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza who ply their trade in Tanzania with Yanga Africa were the last players to arrive in camp on Monday. Micho will however miss the services of injured Goeefrey Massa who has been ruled out of the game.
The federation and Cranes technical team are making last minute efforts to fly striker Brian Umony to Ndola to replace Massa.
However Tony Mawejje and Henry Kalungi have been ruled out of the match as they couldn’t secure their passports in time for the game. Instead there has been a late call up for Zimbabwe based midfielder Boban Zirintusa.
‘We are not here for revenge. I want to test my players ahead of the CAN 2015 qualifiers in May’ said Cranes coach Micho shortly after landing in Zambia. Micho’s comments were rekindling the memories of the last match played between the two teams at Mandela National stadium, Namboole in 2012 when Zambia knocked out Uganda on penalties to qualify for the 2013 Nations cup finals held in South Africa.
