Uganda Cranes fall to South Africa at Namboole

Uganda Cranes suffered their first defeat in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers after falling to South Africa on Friday.

In the game played at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, South Africa won 2-0.

An early goal in the second half from James Thapelo Morena and a stoppage time finish by Patrick Maswanganyi guided Bafana Bafana to victory.

Despite the loss, Uganda had secured qualification already on Thursday alongside South Africa.

Uganda will end the qualification campaign with an away fixture against Congo on Tuesday next week.

The team has 10 points from five games.
