Wednesday, 18th August 2021 witnessed five of the six summoned Express Football Club players join the Uganda Cranes camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi.

Fresh from winning the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Dar es salaam, Express FC captain Enock Walusimbi, left back Arthur Kiggundu, forward Martin Kizza, midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa joined the rest of the teammates in the camp and were engaged in the Wednesday morning training session that involved gym work-outs.

Performance and Fitness director Franck Plaine handled the outfield goalkeepers and Fred Kajoba Kisitu was with the four goalkeepers under close supervision of Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic.

For about one and a half hours, the players were taken through the work-outs targeted for stamina, resilience, endurance, power and general fitness.

New call up Kiggundu was humbled for the summon and believes he will come good in the national team set up.

‘It is very humbling that I have been summoned to the Uganda Cranes. I want to thank coach Micho and the technical team for this. Also, credit goes to my club Express FC that gave me the platform to showcase my talent. I want to give 100 percent while on the team’ Kiggundu told www.fufa.co.ug.

Other Express players Kizza and Walusimbi were also equally ecstatic about the summons.

The technical team planned a theory session for Wednesday evening ahead of the early morning training at Lugogo (9 AM) on Thursday.

Uganda is preparing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where Uganda is pooled in group E alongside neighbours Kenya and Rwanda as well as Mali.

Uganda Cranes opens up with Kenya on 2nd September 2021 in Nairobi.

Before the contest, FUFA has organized a training camp in Jordan where two international friendlies against Syria will be played on 23rd and 26th August 2021 as well as
