Kumi vs VCC ( VCC never showed up in Kumi)
The biggest shock on the opening day of the round of 32 in the Uganda cup happened just a few miles away from the Ugandan capital-Kampala. Usually on average , the distance from Kampala to Kajansi-the venue that hosted the Uganda cup game between Lweza Fc and FUFA Super League side takes about 20 minutes. However John Wisley netted the only goal of the game for the home side to eject Bright Stars FC from the tournament played on a knock out basis. Wisley’s goal came exactly three minutes to full time to send the home fans in jubilation as they progressed to the round of 16.
In Bugonga, Entebbe FC failed to impress their home fans just like their league record remains wanting. Taking the game nearer to their fans today, they were hoping for a change in fortune for better results. They instead bowed out 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw.
The day also saw teh completion of two games in the round of 64. In Amuria, defending champions Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) showed class as Torach Brian grabbed the first hat trick of this season’s tournament while Martin Mpuga and Nsubuga Daniel got the other goals. SCVU who beat Amuria Crane 5-0 have now progressed to the round of 32 and will play Ndejje University in Luweero.
The other game that had been lined up for the day was between Kumi University against Village Club California (VCC). The visitors VCC failed to show up in Kumi. The FUFA competitions Committee will pronounce itself on this game after receiving teh referees report.
