Entebbe v Police FC

Uganda’s most famous football knock out tournament resumes today with four games on card. However there are two fixtures in the round of 64 that need to be completed.

Defending champions Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) have a long trip to North Eastern Uganda to face Amuria Crane City in one of the two remaining games for qualification into the round of 32.  SCVU who travelled yesterday for the trip will be hoping to get the better of the lower division team as they the Kampala based side wouldn’t mind going further in the tournament with the possibility of defending the title and going back for continental football.

The other fixture is between Kumi University and Village club California VCC) in Kumi.

Round of 32 gets underway

Entebbe vs Police FC

Bugonga Fisheries sports ground will host the match between two FUFA Super League (FSL) clubs. Life, so far is not easy for Entebbe Fc who are in relegation zone in the FSL while Police might be having different plans for the season. Entebbe FC-the only team yet to win a game in the FSL decided to use Bugonga as their home ground for the Uganda cup matches so that they get the full support of their fans with the hope of backing the teams as well in the remaining fixtures of the FSL.

‘Every game is like a cup final for our boys. We want to perform well in both the Uganda cup and league’ said Rehema Nakabuye-Secretary of Entebbe FC.

Entebbe will be allowed to use Sentamu Siraje who was red cared in the game against Masaka LC in the league.

Lweza vs Bright Stars:

In Lweza, the home team might have an advantage over Bright stars Fc who will not have their coach Livingstone Mbabazi on the bench.

The former Cranes international has been informed by the FUFA Competitions Committee that his registration as a player for Lweza FC does not allow him to as well coach Bright Stars FC in a competition where both sides meet.

In his communication the Ag Competitions Director Mr. Kiiza Decolas sighted Article 17(3) of the FUFA Statutes that bars a natural or legal person (including holding companies and subsidiaries) shall exercise control over more than one club or group whenever the integrity of any match or competition could be jeopardized.

Bright Stars FC will now use their assistant coaches Francis Mugerwa and Eddy Kaweesa for the game.
