Vipers Football Club have maintained their leadership status of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) following a resounding 1 – 2 away victory over Police at the Kavumba recreational stadium in Wakiso.Allan Kyambadde and Vincent Kayizzi scored for Vipers before Ben Ocen’s goal gave a ray of hope for Police F C.
Defending champions, KCC FC bid farewell to coach George ‘Best’ Nsiibe with a 2 – 1 home victory over Kira Young at the KCCA stadium in Lugogo.Uganda Cranes Striker Brian Umony netted both goals for KCC FC before Brian Nkuubi got Kira Young’s consolation from a direct free kick.
But the biggest victory of the day belonged to the 16 time record league winners Sports Club Villa. The Jogoos beat Entebbe F.C 0 – 4 at Nakivubo Stadium.
Striker Karim Ndugwa bagged a hat trick on top of Erisa Ssekisambu’s goal.
SC Villa is second with 22 points, a point behind Vipers, who lead the table standings on 23 points.
Else where, Joshua Masene’s deflected second half free kick made the only difference as the home side overcame a hard fighting Rwenshama side 1 – 0 at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja.
At Wankulukuku Stadium, Lweza’s Fred Kalanzi cancelled out Anthony Bongole’s opener to deny Uganda Cranes goal keeping and Bright Stars’ coach, Fred Kajoba his maiden victory since taking over the Kawempe based side from Simba F.C. Kalanzi’s goal came in added tme of the second half.
