Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Jimmy Kidega has predicted that Uganda will play beyond the group stage level in the Orange-CHAN competition due in South Africa early next year.
Kidega who last featured for URA in the Uganda Super League (Now FUFA Super League) is currently playing for Bontang Football Club in Indonesia.
He also expressed willingness to return to Cranes if granted an opportunity. “I am a Ugandan and will remain one for ever…If a chance comes my way, I shall automatically get back onto pitch to play for my nation” Kidega said on phone from Indonesia.
He further added that he was happy playing for Bontang FC and that the club has given him a wider international exposure in the field of football.
Uganda dumped Tanzania in the Orange-CHAN 2014 qualifiers to storm the finals. They won 1-0 in Dar es salaam before winding up the campaign with a 4-1 victory in Kampala.
