Ugandan players in diaspora: Duty resumes after international break

A number of football leagues across the globe did return over the weekend following the international break.

Most Ugandan players as usual were in action at their respective clubs as here is how they fared.

During the CAF champions league, Taddeo Lwanga featured for full time as his Simba SC side thrashed AS Vita 4-1 to progress to the quarter finals from group A as group leaders with one game still to play.

Still in the same group, Saidi Kyeyune didn’t feature as his Sudan side Al-Merreick drew 2-2 with Al Ahly at home.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Denis Onyango was not on the match day squad as his Mamelodi Sundowns drew goalless With Jamal Salim Mangoola’s Al Hilal Omardum In Sudan.

Jamal was an unused substitute.

For the same group, Joseph Ochaya didn’t make the match day squad as his TP Mazembe lost 2-0 to Algerian side CR Belouizdad to bow out.

During the Czech Republic Premier League, forward Edrisa Lubega started before paving way for Voltr in the 57th minute as his Pribram side drew goalless at Mlada Boleslav.

In the Czech Republic second division, left back Isaac Muleme started before being subbed in the 75th minute as his Viktoria Zizkov lost 4-2 against log leaders Hradec Králové.

In Turkey, Farouk Miya came on in the 69th minute for Bytyqi as his Konyaspor FC picked up a vital away win defeating Erzurum BB 2-1.

Striker Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru played full time started as his Wycombe Wanderers side who sit at the bottom pipped Blackburn Rovers 1-0 during the English Championship.

Another Ugandan born Jordan Obita was not included in the match day squad for Wycombe Wanderers.

Right back Elvis Bwomono came on in the 74th minute for Jason Demetriou as his Southend United lost 2-0 to Carlisle during the English league two duel.

Defender Bevis Mugabi was an unused substitute as his Motherwell FC beat Formartine United 5-0 in the Scottish Cup. 

In Denmark Premier League relegation round, Moses Opondo was an unused substitute as his Odense FC side drew 1-1 at Horsens.

Moses Oloya played full time as his Hanoi T&T side fell 2-0 against SHB-Đà Nẵng in the Vietnam V-league.

Elsewhere Geofrey Baba Kizito featured for Than Quang Ninh as they beat Becamex Bình Dương 1-0.

Fahad Bayo and Timothy Awanyi did not make the match day squad due to injuries as their Ashdod FC side drew 1-1 Hapoel Kiryat Shmona in the Israel Ligat HA’al Championship round.

In South Africa DsTV Premier League, custodian Ismail Watenga was an unused substitute for Chippa United as they were thrashed 5-1 at Maritzburg United.

In Zambia, custodian James Alitho wasn’t in the match day squad as his Zanaco FC side lost 2-1 at Zesco United.
