WOMEN FOOTBALL: First Ever FUFA Elite Women Football League Finally Kicks off

2015 FUFA Women Elite Football League:

Opening Match:

Kawempe Muslim Women F.C 7-0 Kakira Women F.C – At Nabweru Play Ground

The first ever FUFA Women Elite  league kicked off in Uganda on Sunday, 15th February 2015 at the Nabweru Play ground.

The league comes barely months after Uganda hosted the first FIFA Women Live your Goals Girls Football development programme in Kampala last December.

In the thrilling opening match, Kawempe Muslim Women football club humiliated Kakira Women F.C 7-0.

Sharp shooter, Sandra Nabweteeme scored four goals on a bright evening of the match watched by a mamoth crowd. Hasifa Nassuna, Spencer Nakacwa and a Sharifah Mutesi own goal completed Kakira’s misery.

FUFA Vice President, Darious Mugoye, FUFA Technical Director, Asuman Lubowa, FUFA Spokesman, Ahmed Hussein, Crested Cranes (Uganda Women national team) head coach, Majidah Nantandah, FUFA Competitions secretary and IT manager, Ali Mwebe, FUFA Women Co-ordinator, Hadijah’Lady Mourinho’ Namuyanja, Kawempe region football delegate, Kenneth Musisi, Coach Paul Ssali, other coaches and many several federation officials attended the opening ceremony of the historic league.

Kakira Women Football Club starting Line Up

The league is composed of 12 teams divided into 2 groups (Victoria and Elizabeth) with 6 apiece.

Each of the 12 teams was given 5 balls each.

The winner at the end of the league stands a chance to win U.shs 3M with the first and second runners up pocketing U.shs 2 and U.shs 1M respectively.

The league resumes next Saturday with 5 fixtures, two of these in the Victoria group and 3 in the Elizabeth group.
