WOMEN U17 NATIONAL TEAM

Developing a stronger Senior Women National Team, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) made a decision in August 2019 to create underage teams that may feed the Crested Cranes.

Uganda Women U17 Team was assembled for the very first time in history in September 2019 under Ayub Khalifa as the Head Coach. Assisted by Hadijah Namuyanja and Olive Mbekeka the Team trainer.

James Magala is the Goalkeeping Coach and Stella Nankumba the Team Doctor.

The U17 Women Team has played 14 international matches won 11, drawn 2 times, and has lost once away in Tanzania during the FIFA U17 Women World Cup Qualifier match. 85 goals have been scored by the youth team so far and conceded only 6 goals.

Juliet Nalukenge is the leading goal scorer on the team with 32 goals followed by Fauzia Njjemba with 22 goals, and Margret Kunihira in third with 13 goals.

The journey for Women U17 Team started when they were invited to take part in the inaugural 2019 COSAFA U17 Girls Championship as a guest team in Mauritius in September 2019.

With most of the players from secondary schools, the team managed to become the champions of COSAFA under the captaincy of Kawempe Muslim SS striker Juliet Nalukenge.

During the 2019 COSAFA Girls Championship Uganda was placed in Group A with Zambia, Mauritius, and Comoros.

The Team played 5 games won 4 games and drawn once. Scored 46 goals and conceded only 2 goals.

2019 CECAFA U17 WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIP

After 2 months the Uganda U17 Women team returned to action by hosting the inaugural CECAFA U17 Women Championship in December 2019.

With the same technical Team, Uganda U17 Women Team managed to lift the trophy at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The Team played 5 games, won 4 games, and drawn once. Scored 28 goals and conceded 1 goal.

2020 FIFA U17 Women World Cup Qualifier

After a successful performance in CECAFA, the Uganda U17 Women Team embarked on chasing the dream to qualify for the 2020 FIFA U17 Women World Cup.

Having the same squad, Uganda U17 Women team made it to the final qualification round after successfully eliminating Ethiopia and rivals Tanzania only waiting to play against Cameroon in the last encounter but the Championship was cancelled after the outbreak of COVID-19.

The team had played 4 qualifier games, winning 3 games and losing just 1 game. Scored 11 games and conceded 3 goals.
