This was the second time in Uganda women football to assemble U20 team for international qualifiers. The first was way back in September 2013 when Uganda eliminated South Sudan on 22-0 aggregate but unfortunately, the Federation executive decided to pull out the team from the qualifiers due to funding problems.

Uganda won the first leg 9-0 away in Juba before finishing the job at home with a 13-0 triumph. Rita Kivumbi, Hasfer Nassuna, and Sandra Nabweteme scored a hat trick each while Dorothy Nakato, Sylvia Nakazibwe, Jeninga Awadifo, and Naome Nagaddya netted the other goals.

After 6 years the Federation decided to restructure women football youth teams hence registering the U20 Women Team in 2020 FIFA U20 Women World Cup qualifier.

The team majority of the player from U17 National Team was eliminated on the Preliminary round by rivals Tanzania on a 4-2 aggregate.
