The Uganda Women Football Association (UWFA) has lined up a series of activities for this quarter that will kick off over the weekend in Bushenyi. The Unit 6 league that brings teams from Bushenyi, Isingiro and Mbarara kicks off on Saturday at Bushenyi recreation ground.
The UWFA has also kicked off preparations for the Women’s Day International football from 7th to 9th March at St John’s School in Wakiso district.
The FUFA technical directorate headed by Asuman Lubowa handles women’s football, Youth activities, Futsal, Beach Soccer and coach education. Lubowa revealed that the federation has already drawn a four year development plan for women’s football.
‘We are confident that the four year plan will take women’s soccer to another level’ said Lubowa while addressing the sports media during the FUFA weekly press conference.
On the kick-off of the Bushenyi league this Saturday, Chris Kalibala-one of the biggest names in Uganda women’s football revealed that eight clubs have registered for the league. The teams are Bushenyi Ladies (defending champions), Kyabugimbi, Nyakabanga, Bunyaruguru, Citizen High School, FUGAM Academy, Rugando Technical Institute and Bushenyi Rising stars
Opening fixtures: 22nd February
10am: Nyakabanga v Bushenyi Ladies
2pm: Citizen High School vs Rugando Technical
3pm: Kyabugimbi vs FUCAM Academy
