Alpha Soccer Academy wins Greater Masaka Chenga U-14 Football Tourney

Finals:

Alpha Soccer Academy 4 – 0 Divine Soccer Academy

Alpha Soccer Academy clinched the 2014 Greater Masaka Chenga football U-14 tourney in style after overcoming Divine Soccer Academy at Masaka Recreational Stadium on Saturday.

Inspired by Anthony Zubula who notched 6 goals in total, the Kalungu based soccer academy overcame the rest of the teams at the day long tourney watched by a lively mammoth crowd.

Alvis Mwanje was voted most valuable player while Shabi Nyanzi, 10 years old was the youngest and most talented player while Ronald Kiberu was the best goalkeeper.

Unlike the previous regional qualifiers in Arua and Gulu, children below the age of 12 impressed.

The champions, Alpha Soccer academy walked away with Shs 700,000 while Divine soccer academy was rewarded with Sh 300,000 and the ticket to join Alpha soccer academy in the finals due in August in Masaka.

The regional qualifiers move to Fort portal this weekend to determine the champions of the western region.

The overall championship national finals will be held in August hosted by Masaka.

This is the 12th year that the U-14 football tournament is being held.

Chenga challenge tournament is sponsored by City tyres and organized by Friends of football with clearance from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
