Youth Football: FIFA launches grassroots football in Jinja

The Federation of International football Association (FIFA) in conjunction with local football governing body, FUFA, launched Grassroots Football project two in Jinja at Main-street Primary school playground.

The program that started on Monday 21st September with coaching, had 32 teachers from different districts in Eastern Region of Uganda and it ended Friday 25th September 2015 at FUFA technical Center in Njeru.

FUFA Technical Director Asuman Lubowa said this program will benefit Uganda by unearthing and tapping new talent.

The program will continue throughout the country and this is the second of its kind.We hope this is so vital platform for our kids whom we expect to be future Uganda cranes’ stars.

At the same function, pupils also received FIFA booklets and manuals to enable them learn more about the game and the program will continue throughout the country.

Over 16 districts from Eastern Uganda had teachers participating in the FIFA Grassroots Coaching course at the Technical Center in Njeru

FIFA Technical Development Officer, Thondoo Govinden, noted

This is a way we can tap and develop talent.The festival gives opportunity to many kids to realize their dreams. He also urged teachers who attended the course to put what they learnt into practice when they go back to their respective schools.

The chief guest, the Jinja district sports officer Moses Mutakisa urged teachers to keep up with the project.

Each of the participating schools received a ball.
