At a time when the FUFA Juniors (U-17) national league second round commenced, another youth tournament, the FUFA – Airtel Rising Stars fifth edition has continued with the regional qualifiers.

This weekend action is being played in Buganda with Masaka district hosting the regional qualifiers.

This comes after the successful completion of the Kampala regional matches played at Kabowa, Ssendi play grounds and Villa Park play grounds last week.

Buganda region defending Champions, Nakaseke International won two matches on day one.

The Luwero based school beat Bristal 3-0 with Sulaiman Ssesazi, Salim Kyobe and Tonny Kajubi scoring.

In their second game, Nakaseke International defeated Standard High School, Zana 2-0 with Isaya Sabiti and Yusuf Kiribata on target.

In the girls’ event, Kakungulu Memorial taught Misanvu a footballing lesson with a massive 9-0 victory.

Naluvule also suffered Kakungulu’s wrath losing 7-0.

Masaka S.S narrowly overcame Dynamic with Elizabeth Nakigozi’s only goal winning the match.

After Buganda action will shift to Kitara and Western region qualifiers on the 15th August 2015.

FUFA offers the technical assistance with Airtel Uganda bankrolling this youth tournament will climaxes on 31st October 2015.

FUFA also has special scouts that are watching over the new talents whose records are being kept in the database for further development of youth national teams.

FUFA Women football officer, Hadijah Namuyanja, Catherine Adipo and Phillip Obwinyi are keeping a keen eye on the young players.

The programme has moved on well so far. We shall play the semi finals and finals with the closing and crowning cermonies on Sunday.
