Youth Football: UYFA streamlines sensitization for grass-root development across the 8 FUFA regions

In a bid to educate the owners and key stake holders involved in the day-to-day running of youth football in the country, the Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) initiated a nation-wide sensitization campaign.

This campaign was intended to involve the different stake holders who are pertinent in grass-root football administration.

All the 8 FUFA regions; Kampala, Buganda, Kitara, Western, North East, Eastern, Northern and West Nile have been involved.

The Uganda Youth Football Associations (UYFA) sensitization has covered all the 8 regions of FUFA

John Bosco Masiko, the chairperson of UYFA disclosed the significance of such a grueling sensitization program.

“The Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) regional sensitization program is to empower all the people involved in youth football across the country.” Masiko remarked as he addressed a press conference at the FUFA Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) officials in Lungujja, Kampala.

Implementation Mechanism:

This worthwhile sensitization campaign was conducted across the different corners of the country with the help of the FUFA regions;

Buganda Region: The different sub regions included Entebbe road, West Buganda, Greater Mukono and Great Masaka with the help of experienced officials – Shafik Kakooza, Tonny Mukasa, Musa Mukasa, Fred Ocweyi and Ibra Kakeeto.

Northern Region: The Lango and Acholi sub-regions sessions were conducted by Paul Ochen Maldin and Morrise Otidi.

Kampala Region: Makindye, Central and Lubaga divisions was handled by Mansoor Kabugo, Patrick and Betty Mayanja.

Nakawa and Kawempe divisions had their sessions done by Sande Male and Gerald Kavuma.

Kitara region: The Edward and Albert sub-regions were handled by Muhamed, Morris Muhindo and Juma.

Eastern Uganda: Busoga sub-region was handled by former Uganda Cranes international Nathan Mutenza at Bulumbandi Primary School in Iganga (Next to Saza ground).

Bugisu sub-region was dealt with by Gad Batuuse at Dream Palace Hotel in Mbale.

Bukedi sub-region’s work was executed by Bernard Owori at the King George IV Memorial Stadium in Tororo.

North East Region: John Erebu was in charge of with a live talk show held at the Voice of Teso 88.4 FM in Soroti.

West Nile Region: Bosco Dudu handled the sensitization at Continental Hotel in Arua on Friday, 11th September 2020.

Western Region: Ankole Sub-region was handled by Salim Twaha at the Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara.

Kigezi sub-region’s work was done by Andrew Amanya will be in charge of Kigezi sub-region at New Foundation Primary School, Kabale.

The basis of these sensitization exercises is to ensure that academies are well structured with strong and firm roots of establishment before licensing can be fully executed.
