Defending champions BUL FC were held to a goalless draw by Maroons FC, while Express FC edged NEC FC 1-0 under the floodlights in Thursday’s FUFA Super 8 doubleheader at the Hamz Stadium Nakivubo.
In the early kickoff, BUL dominated possession but could not find a way past a disciplined Maroons defense.

Debutants Farouk Yawe and Kelvin Barni featured for BUL, while Maroons goalkeeper Hassan Matovu made two vital saves to secure a clean sheet. The two sides will settle the tie in the return leg on September 10th at Nakivubo Stadium, with a semifinal place at stake.
Later in the evening, Express FC sealed a narrow win over NEC thanks to Ali Ismael’s 13th-minute rebound strike. Despite NEC piling pressure in the second half, goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan stood out with a string of saves to keep them in contention. The two sides meet again in the reverse fixture on September 9th at Hamz Stadium, live on FUFA TV.

The FUFA Super 8 brings together the top eight teams from last season’s Uganda Premier League, with BUL seeking to defend the crown they won against Vipers last year.
Vipers SC opted out due to other engagements and were replaced by Express FC.
