Uganda U17 Women’s National Team Ready for World Cup Qualifiers: Squad to Zambia Named

Head Coach Sheryl Botes has voiced her confidence in the final squad selected to face Zambia in the upcoming U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. The team is poised to depart tomorrow morning (Friday 10th May 2024) at 4 a.m. for Lusaka, where they will embark on what promises to be a challenging and pivotal encounter.

Coach Botes expressed her satisfaction with the assembled squad following a spirited friendly encounter against the Misingi Soccer Academy U15 Boys team earlier today. The match, held at the iconic Muteesa II stadium-Wankulukuku, provided a valuable opportunity for the team to fine-tune their tactics and showcase their skills ahead of the qualifiers.

“We’ve had a good run in our preparations, and I’m pleased with the commitment and progress shown by the players,” remarked Coach Botes in an exclusive post-match interview. “The friendly match today was particularly beneficial in evaluating our strengths and areas for improvement. Facing a talented U15 boys’ team allowed us to test ourselves against a dynamic opponent and refine our game plan.”

The U17 Women’s National Team (Teen Cranes), has been diligently preparing under Coach Botes’ guidance for the past 9 days in a residential camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel Kisaasi. The upcoming fixtures against Zambia represent an opportunity for Uganda’s young football talent to showcase their abilities on the international stage and advance towards the U17 Women’s World Cup.

The journey to Lusaka marks a pivotal moment for the Teen Cranes as they aim to secure passage to the next stage of the U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
